Event details
Lately, our country has been shaken by several attacks on our critical infrastructures. On August 5th, 2014, an individual opened a safety valve of an oil tank at the nuclear plant Doel 4. The production was halted for 4 months. On March 22nd, 2016, Brussels was torn by terrorist attacks on the airport and the metro. On May 4th, 2021, a massive DDOS attack on Belnet put several administrative and health operations out of work.
And elsewhere in the world, in February 2016, we had the Bangladesh Bank cyber heist and in May 2021 the ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline in the US. These are only a few of the known incidents. Most of them are never known by the general public.
The topic of our symposium is therefore more current than ever.
