We receive one-time unique access and provide specialized Dutch-speaking professional guides during a visit to the buildings of Hotel van Eetvelde for one hour, followed by a walk along Art Nouveau buildings, again with guides.

We celebrate this year 2023 the 130 years of AN's existence in Brussels and we cannot just let this pass. We organize a visit to the Hotel van Eetvelde building, as well as the outbuilding (official residence), both designed by Belgian architect Victor Horta. After a long renovation, both buildings are exceptionally accessible to the public until the end of 2023, subject to reservation. A jewel of Brussels Art Nouveau, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Access is through the LAB-An or Art Nouveau Laboratory, a place for the promotion of Art Nouveau that offers a contemporary perspective on this Belgian and Brussels heritage and the themes it encompasses. In addition, there is a reflection on the preservation of our Art Nouveau heritage and an introduction to the ties between Art Nouveau and Belgian colonization.

According to Victor Horta himself, the plan for this house in 1895 was the most daring thing he had ever designed. The client was not the best either: Baron Edmond van Eetvelde was the Secretary General of the independent state of Congo - the 'Minister of Congo', so to speak - and therefore a very close associate of King Leopold II.

The future owner asked the architect for a house 'for his family,' but with the largest possible living room and dining room in view of his social obligations. What is special is that the house is in fact a trinity. It is flanked by two other buildings: a building to the left of the house, which served as an extension of the original house as well as a rental house, and a building to the right of the house, a small outbuilding to the main house.

During this one hour of exclusive access (11am-12pm) with a maximum of 60 people, we have provided our BrEA group with 4 professional Dutch-speaking guides from KOREI during the tour (max. 15 people per group).

Following the exclusive visit to Hotel van Eetvelde, we provide from 12 noon another guided walk with Dutch-speaking guides to other AN houses near the Square area (in groups of 20 people), finally ending in a restaurant nearby where we can optionally have a joint lunch provided around 1 p.m.
